My Experience Cow-pooling a Wagyu Steer

Anyone who loves steak knows that wagyu steak is the finest steak in the world. They also know that wagyu beef in all forms is top quality throughout the steer.

Unfortunately, wagyu beef is very expensive. Recently I had the opportunity to purchase half a wagyu steer pre-slaughter for only eighteen hundred dollars. Also unfortunate was that I could not afford that price. So instead of letting the opportunity pass, I solicited five other wagyu fans and we each put in three hundred dollars and purchased our very own half wagyu steer. This turned out to be a very economical way to purchase wagyu beef.

When our steer was slaughtered, a few weeks later three boxes of frozen shrink wrapped beef in all kinds of cuts came to our house. We invited the other owners over and around a fire pit, divided the meat as fairly as possible.

Each owner walked away with a variety of cuts and ground beef totalling approximately thirty pounds of beef each. This worked out to be ten dollars a pound for wagyu beef. If you check out prices for wagyu beef online you will easily see that ten dollars a pound is a steal.

Our cow-pooling experience has proved to me that it is a very economical and fun way to buy wagyu beef.

How Using an Electric Wine Opener Has Made Opening Wine Fun Again

How many times have you been opening a bottle of wine, trying to look suave when the cork either broke apart with some going into the bottle and the rest proving impossible to remove with the cork screw? Or perhaps instead of breaking into bite sized pieces the entire cork went flying into the wine, bobbing around like a piece of jetsam in the ocean. It happens to everyone and it doesn’t help your self esteem to look so uncouth. What you need is an electric wine opener. After way to many of these bad wine opening episodes, I sprang for an Ozeri wine bottle opener and have never been happier.

This is not a gadget, it is a fantastic tool that every wine drinker needs. It looks sharp all by itself and when you use it, there is actually a lightshow with pretty colors and a neat effect. Believe me when I say this wine opener has saved my life many times and impressed guests.

5 Ways to Keep Your Meat Grinder Working Properly

Let’s face it. A meat grinder will take a lot of punishment over its lifespan. Bones, tendons, amongst other things will run through the machine many times, and if you don’t care for your grinder properly you count on one thing…..your grinder will burn out in no time. Here are 5 tips to keep your meat grinder working properly

1. Dry thoroughly – After you clean your grinder, you need to be sure to dry it thoroughly. Many people think that a stainless steel grinder is rust-proof. That’s only the case if you keep it dry. With stainless steel, standing water will rust the equipment over time, which is why I’m stressing this point. One good idea is to store your grinder in a bag with rice. The rice will absorb the excess moisture.

2. Clean the machine of excess items regularly – As you run your machine, you will need to stop on occasion to remove tendons, bones, and gristle so you can maximize your grind. If you don’t do this, your grinder will become slow, dull, and eventually burn out. Running bread through the grinder will help remove these items, and can get you back to grinding in no time.

3. Stick with the basics – Don’t run any items through the grinder that aren’t recommended. Typically, items like bones are not supposed to be ran through, and this will void your warranty.

4. Replace Blades – Replace your blades and knife when they dull. Continuing to use these when they are ineffective will not provide well ground meat, and will wear out your machine.

5. Oil – Keep your machine lubricated. The best way to do this is with a food-based silicone spray. This is a safe item and will keep the machine running smoothly for a long time.

Pur Needs to Put a Life Indicator on Their Product

Nevertheless, these filters, which are marketed as being replacement filters for the Pur Pitcher, don’t have any indicator on them. I purchased a pack of three filters for my purifier, and I don’t have to use water cooler bottles any longer. They work acceptable for me, they are conservatively rated for 2 months use, but I believe it depends on your tap water, the quantity of contaminants it contains, and your perception of how it tastes. If you concur that donations ought to be up to the person, purchase the more effective, more affordable Pur water filters! No problems and no grievances at all. I’ve been trying to avoid bottled water, and PUR was the answer. I further checked on the technical features of Cellulose fibers and learned that they have a powerful affinity for water and they swell up when subjected to water and then shrink when allowed to dry up. These filters last about 30 days in our home.
